Interface

Blending Mode

Blend Strokes or Points if they intrsect with each others. Possible values is Normal and Add.

Multisampling

Multisampling with 5 samples used to reduce aliasing on thin lines or points.

Iterations Count

Count of strokes to draw in blend between pathes with two Masks selected. If only one Mask selected plugin draws copies in stack on each other.

Curve Segment Count

Base Points count to draw Lines or Points.

Distribution Ramp

This Ramp can adjust Lines distribution in blend to make non-linear distribution. Double click on line to add new point. Double click on point to remove it. Hold ctrl and click on control to change interpolation method.

Primitives

Chose Lines or Points to draw.

Distortion

Set of parameters to distort lines with Gassian Noise.

Noise Coordinates

Choose between Local and Screen. With Local coordinates noise distributes along the Mask path. In Screen mode noise is based on screen coordinates to make nice loops with closed shapes.

Noise

Set of parameters to make Gaussian Noise drive position of the Base Points.

Noise Ramp

This Ramp can define noise amplitude along the Mask path. Double click on line to add new point. Double click on point to remove it. Hold ctrl and click on point to change interpolation method.

Points

Points tab affects on result only in Points mode.

Point Segments

Points draws as a cirlces, Point Segments sets dots count in circle. With 4 segments Points draws as a box, with 3 as a triangle. Keep it small as possible to optimize render speed.

Visible Points

Probability in percent defines how many points to draw.

Points Rotation

Set of parameters to rotate Points.

Angle

Common angle to rotate all Points.

Rotation Along Lines

With 100% allows Points to follow path curve.

Rotation Noise

Set of parameters to make Gaussian Noise drive rotation of the Points.

Rotation Ramp

This Ramp multiplies with Noise Amplitude to determine Noise Amplitude distribution alogn path. Double click on line to add new point. Double click on point to remove it. Hold ctrl and click on point to change interpolation method.

Caps

Set of parameters determines how ends of the strokes should look. Arrows, round ends or none.
Arrows has independed controls since v2.0.

Line Cap Begin/End

Choose between two arrows, round or none to set how is Begin/End of stroke should look.

Begin/End Arrow Length

If Arrow as Cap selected this parameter sets Length of Arrow.

Begin/End Arrow Angle

If Arrow as Cap selected this parameter sets Angle of Arrow.

Alpha

Set of parameters to set opacity for the Base Poins (For both Lines and Points modes).

Alpha Noise Coordinates

Alpha Noise

Alpha Sinus (sine function)

Set of parameters to distribute Base points opacity with Sine function.

Strokes Offset

Set of parameters to offset and animate Strokes.

Offset

Offset for Begin and End.

Begin

Defines in percent segment in Mask path to start drawing stroke.

End

Defines in percent segment in Mask path to finish drawing stroke.

Offset Loop

Allows to make infinite loop to offset the Strokes.

Randomize

Set of parameters to add some randomnes in lines generation.

Distribution Random

Defines randomization for lines copies distribution. Works only with two Masks.

Offset Random

Defines randomization for Strokes Offset.

Gradient Random

Randomize order of lines Gradient to render in blend.

Thickness Random

Adds some thickness variations to lines copies.

Opacity Random

Adds opacity variations to lines copies.

Random Seed

Sets unique random sequence.

Cross Lines Gradient

Set of parameters to draw gradient across the lines.

Gradient Blend

Blending mode to mix lines color with Cross Lines gradient.

Gradient

Double click on control adds Color Point. Double click on Color Points hadle to chose the color. Click and drag on handle to move the Color Point. To remove the Color Point click and drag mouse down.

Gradient Offset

Offsets whole gradient.

Gradient Scale

Set for example to 200% to draw gradient two times.

Gradient Loop

Loops Gradient to make possible Offset infinite.

Mask 1

Set of parameters to set shape with Mask 1.

Mask

Choose one of the layer masks.
Important!
You need o choose atleast one mask to make plugin works.

Feather

Defines smoothness of Stroke in pixels.

Base Points Density

Alows control points distribution along path to fine control and compensate paths blending. Double click on line to add new point. Double click on point to remove it. Hold ctrl and click on control to change interpolation method.

Thickness

Defines Stroke Thickness in pixels

Thickness Ramp

Defines Stroke Thickness along the Path. Multiplied with Tickness. Double click on line to add new point. Double click on point to remove it. Hold ctrl and click on point to change interpolation method.

Thickness Ramp Offset

Allows to offset Ramp along the Path.

Thickness Ramp Scale

Scales Ramp along path.

Thickness Ramp Loop

Allows looping to make offset infinite.

Invert Path Direction

Inverts Path to change it's direction.

Opacity

Defines Stroke Opacity.

Defines Stroke Opacity along the Path. Multiplied with Opacity. Double click on line to add new point. Double click on point to remove it. Hold ctrl and click on point to change interpolation method.

Opacity Offset

Allows to offset Ramp along the Path.

Opacity Scale

Scales Ramp along path.

Opacity Loop

Allows looping to make offset infinite.

Gradient

Double click on control adds Color Point. Double click on Color Points hadle to chose the color. Click and drag on handle to move the Color Point. To remove the Color Point click and drag mouse down.

Gradient Offset

Allows to offset Gradient along the Path.

Gradient Offset Random

Randomize offsets in lines

Loop Gradient

Make offset inifinite if checked.

Sine 1

Add sine function distortion for path.

Sins Operation

Defines how two sine distortion mix with each other.

Sine 2

Add second sine function distortion for path.

Mask 2

Almost same parameters as in the Mask 1 tab, but with few options.

Mask

This parameter is optional, you can leave it to none if not need to blend two shapes.

Clone From Mask 1

Clones Parameters from Mask 1.
Except Base Points Density and Invert Path Direction

Obsolete Parameters

This parameters only need to provide back compability with older version of Volna. Not need to change this parameters in new setups.

Stroke with arrowhead

1Create Solid layer and add mask on it.

For closed shapes set mask mode to: none

2Apply effect Volna from Effects->irrealix->Volna

3In effect parameters unroll Mask1, in drop down menu Mask chose Mask1.

4Change Arrow Head End from None to Arrow1.

5Set Thickness value.

6Adjust Thickness Ramp.

7Choose Gradient Colors.

8Animate with Offset. Or With End.

Blend shapes

1Create Solid layer and add two masks on it.

2Apply effect Volna from Effects->irrealix->Volna

3In effect parameters unroll Mask1, in drop down menu Mask chose Mask1.

4In effect parameters unroll Mask2, in drop down menu Mask chose Mask2.

5Set iterations Count to 20.

Gradients and randomization

1In Mask1 tab unrol Gradient.

To add Color Points double click on Gradient rectangle.
To edit color click on Color handler.
To move color points click and drag on it.
To revome color point drag handle down.
Hold ctrl and click on handle to change color interpolation method.

2Setup Gradient colors points.

3Animate Gradient along stroke with

4Repeat steps to Mask 2 or turn On Clone From Mask 1.

5In Strokes Offset animate End from 0 to 100%.

6In Randomize set Offset Random to 25%.

Deformations

Sine function

Each mask can be deformed and animated with sine function.

Amplitude, Frequency and Offset can be animated.

Frequency 1.0 equals to one period of sine along path.

You can use two sine functions for each mask and choose add or multiply operation between them.

Perlin noise distortion

Distortion is applied to all shape, it can use local shape coordinates or screen coordinates.

It is possible to use sine and noise at same time.

Primitives

Lines

By default strokes draw as a lines. Primitives set to Lines

Points

In Points mode each stroke will draw with points. Curve Segment Count sets points count for each stroke.

Visible Points set in percent count of visible points.

Alpha noise allows to add some noise and animate points opacity.
